Reclaiming The Firepit, Part 3

in #gardening8 years ago

Remember this pile of dry branches I found in the undergrowth?

The rain held off long enough to outdistance my willpower...

Woot! The pit is officially reclaimed!

Plus, a little more of the area is exposed. I love a good 'two-fer'! It worked so well, I'm contemplating letting the rose clippings dry out and burn them, too. It would head off a lot of cussing and myriad scratches.

Revenge is absolutely not (well, maybe a little) a factor in the 'burn it' idea.

As you can imagine, working so closely with a fire, one tends to carry a smoky aroma where ever they go...

So, I snagged a few lilac blooms from my tree (it's too big to qualify as a bush) to help sweeten the air in house.

Mmmmmm, one of my favorite things about Spring.

The next installment will be laying out the landscaping fabric and anchoring it with a combo of pins and mulch.

Stay tuned!

Thanks! Giving it a good try. Lol!

Nothing better than a firey big firepit. I love the garden but am a bit limited at the mo with my broken hand, hopefully it'll get better soon and i can follow you into garden bliss, great post, very inspirational, upvoted and followed.

Agreed. One of the best ways to relax and let the world's cares slide away for a while is watching a nice fire. Usually, fire-building is in hubby's purview and I just let him handle it. Every now & then, though, I'll build one just to make sure I don't lose my skills.

I hope your hand heals quickly and well! I would imagine it's quite the hassle. Hopefully, it's not your dominant one...

Burning is such great revenge for roses, blackberries, and other prickly vines and bushes! That will be an inviting place to be all summer and fall. Nice work!

Oh, good, I'm not alone in my vengeance. The rain isn't helping, tho. Will have to postpone the pyre. Sigh...

Cant beat the smell of lilacs!

Agreed! The aroma is so strong, that even one bunch will overtake a room. I had this vase in front of an open window. With strategic opening of other doors & windows (and the wind just right), the whole house was smelling sweet. Short season for the blooms, so I try to get as much 'mileage' as I can.
