We "save" lettuce seed in another way - we scatter most of them around the garden in autumn. In March, when we first start working in the garden, there are tiny lettuce babies around :) We just gather them and plant them in a common bed. We also start some seeds inside, just to be extra sure :)

that's an awesome idea! i've never even tried to transplant or move lettuce before - i might have to try that this year.
