Well its that time of week where i'm missing spending time in the garden all ready so how about a garden update. looking through the pictures taken and sharing them with yourselves brings me great joy. Very much my natural medicine, a place of clarity and reflection.
I'd eluded in a previous post that i hurt my back and this limited me to light duties. I'm sure you'll understand but i don't do sitting down and resting very well, often this creates more issues then it resolves so i just pottered on and sat in the sun to relax when the pain got a bit much. On the plus side however its been a good 4 days without the need for strong painkillers so its pain off.
So what was done
I managed to get a shelf built fitted and in place in the greenhouse. I'm a little upset when i started typing up this garden update post, that i noticed a lot of pictures i'd thought i'd taken are missing.... but its full of pots and other greenhouse essentials ready to clean and put to use over the coming weeks.
most of the wood used was reclaimed from the wooden greenhouse that was in place before, so cost was minimal. but the storage is massive and only the beginning I've got a few more bits to do but it should be a bad ass growing space.
Foolishly i moved some grow bags about, these have potatoes in. Can't remember who but one of twisted my arm a while back to grow some. 6 bags in total and they are starting to sprout. I' may bite the bullet and buy a load more of these bags. Growing space is tight but i think i could get another 12 maybe 16 at a push down the fence which would be a massive increase in food production. Question is can i justify the more of this style of container, i only used these as they were free. urgh decisions keep your eyes open in the new garden update to see what happens.
Rhubarb was one thing that grows really well in the garden. However my massive patch needed to be moved to put a edible fence and another fruit tree in. so i split the grown in to 4 parts 3 are doing great and one still needs to be potted up... until next week on that one.
Pulled a couple leeks, and this years onion/shallot sets are coming on now the temps are rising.
I also found some more onion sets that i set aside and forgot about which is typical of me. Rather than waste these. i found some gaps i could sneak another 50 or so onions in 😆
The raised bed thats set out for square foot gardening is springing into life, currently full of overwintered leeks, garlic, onions, shallots and a few different herbs. Some may say i have an allium addiction 😆 ill be moving stuff around once the soil drys up a bit more and start sowing other plants
Question: What you all been up to if youve been out in the garden or homestead???

Looking amazing. Everything is looking very tidy and organised. Get some magnesium oil for your back. And make sure you do stretches before you get into the garden comma you are getting really old these days you know haha. Everything is looking very healthy and ready to burst into Life. You must think about it all the time. Hope you ever seen potatoes grown in rounds of chicken wire straw and soil? As that could give you more space as well xx

We had a warm afternoon on Saturday, and I got half of 3 beds cleared out, preparing for moving the plants out, part of the start of construction. But mostly it's just been too cold/windy/rainy to do anything out there.
Must have plants moved by next Thursday.....sigh.....
Sounds like a good productive day @goldenoakfarm i'm in that boat need to get plants sorted and rehomed ASAP! thanks for dropping by
Yesterday I got 1/2 of the Big Veg garden cleaned out so I could lay out the onion rows and figure out where all these plants must go. They have to be moved by this Thursday and it's to pour rain all day today....
sounds productive, i find nothing more frustrating than rain when you've got a busy schedule, feel free to send it my way need to fill up the water butts before the summer gets here.
Wow @digitaldan, your passion for growing plants is contagious. Now I just want to go to with my plants too. hehehe.
