RE: STEEMIT SEED SAVERS - MUSTARD GREENS

in #gardening7 years ago

Ah, investing wisely, I see! I couldn't agree more. If you don't raise them up to be productive members of society, it is only YOUR fault. We have a motto in our house that Every Person Participates I am sure that sounds mean, but, it enables every person in the house to be able to do any job that comes up and do it well. (or as well as can be expected)

I am excited to see another seed collector! Ours started out as a fun kind of thing, one of the kids wanted to prove that they could cull seeds from an annual flower. One that has to be bought every year. But, she argued, they have to get those seeds somewhere- and she was right. We diligently collect and dry, proudly planting our coup in the early spring. There is pride in these collectors. I have to admit that we have bought a thing to dry seeds that is a triple hanging apparatus (mesh to let the air through) and then I usually put the seeds in a paper bag and staple and label them. This prevents the rotting, mildew thing in case they are not all dried. The bags allow air through. Try it, you may like it. I used lunch bags.

As an aside, I am going to the Mother Earth News Fair in Pennsylvania this weekend and hope to learn a few more homesteading tricks with over 150 workshops! Now I am totally excited!

As usual, you always keep me wow'ed @papa-pepper. You just keep steemin and take me along for the ride.

Upped and steemed

Take some good photos at the fair and even try doing a series on what you learn and see there.

Thank you! I'll give it my best shot! Writing is not my strong suit!
