What's up everyone! Today I have a special INSIDE LOOK at how a market gardener harvests his crop. I'm back with my friend Steven Cornett of Nature's Always Right farms. He's jerry-rigged a hyper-efficient process for going from harvest to packed produce in under an hour.
In a nutshell, it looks like this:
- He harvests his beds with the Quick Cut Greens Harvester from Farmer's Friend
- Dumps his greens into a washing tote for a quick dunk
- Dumps washed greens into a trash can with holes drilled into it, then places in a laundry machine that's jerry-rigged to spin on command
- After a quick spin, he dumps the greens onto a drying rack for 5-10 minutes
- He packs up the dried greens and takes them to market!
Check the video out - it's really something to see.
Thanks For Watching!

This is awesome! I have been looking for a sneak peek into how market gardeners do their thing. I love that Steven has "jerry-rigged" as you say his own machinery. So many market gardening videos show a bunch of expensive machinery that someone starting out would have to get a loan to pay for. This shows how someone could start up with minimal investment. Thanks so much!
Great work. Looks easy as well.
Wow this is great and so helpful! I haven't planted any greens yet, but we're definitely interested and this process is so doable for us! Thanks!
Slick process!
What a great video. I am always interested in this sort of thing because even if I never sell greens for a living I can glean efficiency tips for the homestead. That Quick Cut Greens Harvester is especially cool.
