I acquired these cacti near the Jacks Fork River, but not on state land sooooo....they're mine now. Muahaha!! But no. Seriously. I grabbed a few pads from a spot I had found them at while hiking around before and tossed them into one of my gardens. That was 3 years ago. They have never bloomed for me, but I have a feeling that's my own fault for putting them in the shade.
I would do a Native Ozark Wildflower post for these, but I have no blooms to share. You'll just have to enjoy this year's new growth instead. :)
You never know; I once had a kalanchoe that didn't bloom for five years? Or seven? Then suddenly one year BLOOMS EVERYWHERE! 😊
I should probably just google how many years it takes for them to bloom. Derp. Haha! Wisteria vines take at least 7 years to bloom and there's an old wives tale that says that white lilacs will only bloom the year that you die. Morbid!
I never heard that about white lilacs!
Something about cactus being a shade loving plant just having a hard time remembering that part. 🐓🐓
Well that's no help! Haha! ;)
We just acquired some prickly pear on a walk this year. I saw that little fresh green on it come up, and I thought for sure that would be the blossom. Ah well, more patience.
I hope yours blooms soon as well! Mine just keep growing more pads, too. I'm okay with that though. They're so neat!
