Check Out My New Japanese Inspired Gardening Tool!! ホリ

in #gardening7 years ago

Picked up this multi-purpose gardening tool over the winter and can't wait to try out! The name of this multi-purpose tool is Hori Hori. The Hori-Hori, first implemented in Japan, was originally used for carefully excavating plants. The word Hori (ホリ) means "to dig" in Japanese.

I bought this Hori Hori form Barebones Living. Barebones gives a life time warranty on the multi-tool. It comes with this cool Sheath that you can hook right on to your belt.

Details

  • Galvanized rust-proof steel, bamboo
  • 13" L x 2-1/4" W
  • Blade is 7-1/4" L
  • Weighs .8 lbs.

The Hori Hori is a heavy, half straight edge half serrated multi-purpose steel blade great for gardening jobs such as digging, cutting and chopping. I have not had the chance to use the Hori Hoir to it's full potential yet but I hear it is ideal for transplants, digging out old unwanted plants and planting seeds. Witch is good since I started over 200 seeds last week in Soil Blocks and Toilet Paper Rolls.   (Click on the blue/green highlighted words to view those posts)

The back of the blade is concave to help with digging. The lines on the back are inch marks to easily measure out spacing for plants or depth to plant seeds. At the end of the handle there is a heavy piece of steel. This can be used like a hammer to drive things into the ground or a popped nail.

THANK YOU FOR POPPING BY!!

Wow that’s a nice one! Love hori hori— guess I’ve always spelled it wrong as hari hari;)

I really love Hori Hori tools they work great and I hope to get one soon for my garden!

Thank you for the comment @underthekiltfarm!

I've seen them advertised, but a real life test of the functionality would be awesome. Multi-purpose tools are my favorite. (Less stuff to keep track of and tote around.) I'll look forward to your opinions on how it's working for you!

Same with me @aunt-deb! I'll let ya know how well it works shortly.

That's really cool. I've never seen one of those before. That would work great for weeds in my lawn.

Weeding is one of its specialties. Thanks for the comment @profanereview!

it says:" designed in Salt Lake City, UT"
Do you know where is it made?

No. Earth I think.LOL 😂

That's awesome functionality!!! Gotta get one myself now. Thanks @hopfarmnc
