So we did a thing PT-2

in #gardening4 years ago (edited)

It happened again, and no it's not even next weekend like I predicted in saturdays post. Yesterday my fiance was up pretty early and because sunday was our last day off together before starting a fresh new week at work, she attempted to let me sleep in. Im betting y'all know that didn't happen. I mean why would it, nothing really ever goes to plan for us and I am pretty sure y'all are staring to see that.

So lets time worp back to yesterday morning, its about 10am and my dog chevy, who is in the bedroom with me starts barking. I, being half asleep yelled, well more like loudly mumbled something close to stop barking. At this point I am at that head space where half of you is super annoyed cause your dog is rude and half of you is actually happy you're wake early enough to check on plants and start the morning routine off with some amazing coffee. The fiance makes a mean cup of joe, I'll tell ya!

Before my feet even touch the floor, my fiance walks into the room and states that she was trying to let me sleep in for a bit and apologizes for Chevy being rude. It was at this point in which I was hit, hit hard with an energy bubble that lite me up. I just up on the bed, like you use to do as a kid. Yes, I get it, I am not a kid anymore but I was so excited. I looked over at babe standing in front of the mirror getting ready for the "lazy day" we were suppose to have. Her beauty is just so unreal sometimes and it is in that moment I stopped and just took in this small moment of beauty.

Fast forwards a few seconds and before I realized it, the words "babe can we go plant shopping again?" came out of my mouth. I froze for a moment to reply exactly what just happened, in doing so my fiance looks at me. We exchange looks with eachother for about 30 seconds when out of no where I blurted, "you created a green monster inside me." Eyes popped, standing on top of the bed, slightly bouncing and she replies with "its easter weekend and I am not sure anything will be open. As the word "open" left her mouth, I went limp. Falling on to the bed like a wounded human, which I mean that sentence really hit hard. Pulling her phone out, she says to me "ok sutherlands says they are open, we can go over there." I smiled jumped up and started dressing myself like a kid that was just told they got 50 dollars to spend at the toy store!

We're in the truck, headed towards sutherlands. As we turn into the parking lot we both realize their closed for easter weekend and we live in a small town so if one is closed, well you guessed it, their all closed. So I am driving towards the highway to loop back around to the house and she starts talking to someone the phone. "Yes, I was wondering if you guys are open today? Ok, thank you so much." At this point I am vibrating with excitement, "someones open?" Which she replied with, "yes babe, home depot in Columbia is open."

Fast forward 30mins, we landed at home depot. The parking lot is filled, its beautiful out and I just cant wait to see what they have for plants. Again I look at my fiance as we are walking in and told her she had created a green monster inside of me! She giggled so cutely, "that's ok babe, you're the one who has to take care of them!" So hyped on engery I didnt even think about the fact that I would be the soul provider for all these plants. Anyways moving on, so we get to the plant section of home depot and no one grabbed a cart, of course, like, why would we do that! So I am looking at all the plants I can look at with only two eyes and before I know it, I already have five plants in my hands.

The struggle was real with this one and by this one, I mean, me! I am juggling plants left and right, I have them smashed between my arms and my chest, filled to the brim and I am still attempting to pick up more plants when my fiance and D came walking up with a cart. My thought wasnt "ok I am done," no why would it be. It was "oh thank god I have MORE room to pick MORE plants!" but, before I even had the chance to put the plants in the cart, my eyes met up with these beautiful bells. They were strong and healthy, their leave stretched out so elegantly that I literally bypassed the cart plants in hand to added bells to the juggling act I was apparently so desperately trying to keep a float. At this point I am pretty sure every customer in the garden section of home depot thought I was a little mad!

Fast forward, plants are finally in the cart and I am covered in dirt and water, the perfect look for a planter right! Except now I have to walk around home depot for more pots looking like I, myself just crawled my way out of one. Vibrating with excitement I cannot wait to check out and head back so the planting process can begin. Nope you called it, thats not what happened. So we finish loading everything in the truck and babe says "we have to go to Walmart. " I look at her, she looks at me and I look down the front of myself. "So Walmart customers are going to think I live for dirt, eh its ok, we'll be fine, everything fine!" I'll just look like the mad woman who crawled her way out of a pot, that's all.

We're going to time worp one more time, we are pulling into the driveway of the house and I am literally about to vibrate out of my skin because I am so excited to count, not pot but count how many plants we are up to now. So we unloaded the truck and I got my station set up (totally forgot to even count, which is really what I was so excited about the minute we got home) in the garage because that's where everything landed and I went to town. Beer in one hand soil cup in the other, music playing in the back ground, all together just a gorgeous sunday to be planting.

At the end of it all we now have 30 plants. We have some flowers, some spieces, some bells, and peppers, (my hot peppers) and tomatoes, three different kinds of tomatoes! I guess the moral of the story here today is, if your fiance wants a garden but kills everything, you give her one. And before you know it, it will consume all of your soul!

Here's to a highly possible PT-3!!
