Attention All Gardeners: Never Throw Out Your Old Tea Or Coffee Again!

How Many Times Have You Had Extra Tea In The Pot, And Just Dumped It Out?

Let today be the last time you ever do that. We learned this year, that plants just love being watered with tea and coffee, and beyond that, they even would like your vegetable water, for example, after you boil potatoes.

This water is absolutely beneficial for plant life, and no, it's not cannibalism to feed vegetable water to vegetables. Or is it? I don't know, this is not a theological debate today.

We save up our tea, coffee and vegetable water leavings in mason jars, and daily give them to our plants, outdoor and indoors.

Today I used them on my strawberry planter that needed a bit of love.

Thank you for the tip

I already thought that coffee water would be a great addition but with tea leaves sounds also great

Yes, and you can even use the water from boiled eggs as well @brainalex :)

My parents do this and they have fantastic green thumbs. Their garden is very healthy and I've always believed it's because of how they use their saved coffee n' tea grounds. So hellz ya for free nitrogen, postassium, and magnesium! 😉

RIGHT ON!! Your parents are AWESOME!! And thank you very much for the hellz ya @onntastic :)

perfect way to use waste! you can also ask coffee shops for their left over grounds

Ooh good idea there too @cainplant! Thank you for the tip.

We called it compost tea! I used to steep a mix of coffee grounds and egg shells. Plants loved it.

Oooh wow, that sounds next level @othervignettes! Mmmmmmmmmmmm tasty plant food!

Thanks for sharing this little known fact. I'm a barista at Starbucks, and people have no idea that we give away all our used coffee grounds in sealed bags for this specific purpose!

Ooh Just beautiful, what a wonderful act of kindness. I am going to tell all of my friends about this initiative, is it worldwide, or just the US or Canada?
