Greetings Hive!
We've been following the news and are very excited about the new community buzzing over here. In our opinions, it is a much needed break from a chain around the neck that was Steemit Inc (and then J Sun!?!?) and the ninja mined stake. Now there is a real feeling in the air and boots on the ground of a truly community led network one with the freedom to actualize great heights!
That said, I look forward to seeing how this place grows.
Ini on recently cut mushroom logs.
Homestead Update:
A quick homestead update. Spring is here! We are busy planting tree seeds, finishing projects, gardening, preparing mushroom logs for spawn, relaxing, taking care of our immune systems in the face of Covid-19 (and yes we have been social distancing), selling permaculture plants, among other things.
Skirret mama with a lot of baby plants
Chinese hybrid chestnuts ready to be planted!
We've made some air pruning beds (post on that soon) and have planted out Chinese and European hybrid chestnuts, persimmons, select pawpaw seeds and we also have Trifoliate Orange (a citrus easily hardy to our area!) and Jujube. We've sold dozens of starts this year including skirret, blackberries, boysenberries, Chinese mountain yam, sunchokes and more. It feels good to spread the awesome plants.
Perennial abundance; Skirret, sunchokes, comfrey, wild yam and more
Wild and cultivated salad greens are on the menu each day. That, per usual, brings a lot of bright health to our diet and helps move any winter stagnation.

Questions for the community:
How is everyone?!
It's been a while since I've checked in and the drama has of course changed the tempo of interaction here for a while it seems. I'm excited to see people get back into "posting grooves".
Secondly, what would people like to see from us?
We want to stick to quality blog posts instead of quantity -- focusing on topics pertaining to permaculture, homesteading, food forestry, natural building, etc that people find interesting.
Maybe you’re interested in tanning hides?
What do you find interesting pertaining to our lifestyle?
We also plan to get back into action posting YouTube videos. However, though much has been changing in our world, our slow rural internet has not changed (perhaps it's gotten worse) so we still have a challenging time with the uploads.
Let it be known that throughout my hiatus from posting in the community, I have been playing Splinterlands many times a week! The Gelatinous Cube is one of my favorites of late.
And this concludes my first post on new fork, Hive blockchain. Happy to be here!
LOVELY to see you glowing and singing the self-sufficient, well-fed, safe & happy song. Awesome. "Edible landscaping" - I love that term and it's also the basis most Thai gardens are build on - plants and trees are either edible, or they yield blooms and fragrance for Buddha and the Spirit Houses.
What content would we like to see from you? Natural world, love, reflection, natural health, garden, kitchen.... LOL... It's all good. Keep it coming, as and when you feel.
Best wishes from locking down Chiang Mai in Thailand.
Ooh! @mountainjewel I am thrilled to be your first commenter on your first Hive post ❤ Glad to see you and looking forward to your blogs. For me, i'd love to know how to begin preparing to head off grid, to build the dream so it can come alive!
Good and great positivity 👍

Happy to see you on here, and posting about the IRL stuff!
Honestly, in terms of content, just keep posting with the seasons, that'll easily be enough to keep you going at this time of year!
Glad to see you guys here! You were missed the last months on steem!
Be well, hive on :)

Yay! They are back!
I'd love to see posts on how you do many of the things you do there. The air pruning beds post sounds intriguing. Maybe one on finished projects that we saw the beginnings of last spring?
Tours of the farm coming alive in the spring? And progression through the month, with plant IDs for photos?
I loved all your old posts, so that format would be fine.
Glad you 2 are back! I missed you!
And for your first question, things are much as usual here: working on the addition, resurrecting gardens, starting seeds, etc. My husband got bitten by a tick in late February (in New England!) and got Lyme disease and is dealing with the fallout from that. But life goes on as usual here.
i'm interested in tanning hides!
Very nice post @mountainjewel. Introduced to you via @rawutah, I enjoyed reading it. He introduced my beloved lifemate and I to permaculture last summer and we are looking forward to Spring (still snow on the ground here ...), so we can see how our efforts at "Back to Eden" gardening will go.
As a part-time
Steemian/ Hivian ...... I liked this. "Speaks my language" as I don't have the time to meet the seemingly insatiable time demands of blogging like others do (more power to them ...) full-time.
As for content requests, I will just look forward to whatever you share about what you are doing in your garden(s)!
Stay safe and keep well!
Upvoted and now following (uhhh, unless that little red circle on PeakD's interface says otherwise ... 😟 Well, I'm sure they're working on it ...).
Good to see you after a long time @mountainjewel
