Short update, June 9, 2021

in #gardening3 years ago

Good things on the homestead. Last week I harvested four rabbits to get my process lined out. The other five are ready, and I'll be harvesting them shortly. To replace them, blackberry and OMB each threw a litter of eight kits this weekend. Our last bunnies of the season are helping us wrap up really well. With good practice, we should put about a hundred and fifty pounds of rabbits in the freezer to wrap up the season.

The garden is doing well. We're seeing tomatoes on the vines, and I'm harvesting plums now and then. Most of the plums have bugs though, so they go to the pigs who gobble em right up.

New book!

The next project here for us is to grow rabbit food. More rabbit food than ever. I'd like to eventually produce a hundred percent on property, but I'll be happy with half to start off. I'll be starting this book after I'm done with Extreme Ownership by Jocko Willink.

With that, I'm gonna go get to reading. Only so much time in a day, and this weekend is booked solid. Maybe a post on that later.

Thanks for following along

Bugs in fruit/plants = poor or unbalanced soil..... Fortunately the animals don't care, but it means the fruit is low nutritionally...
