My Orchid Plant, Now in Full Bloom!

in #gardening8 years ago (edited)

One of my orchid plant has been blooming unseasonably. Around 2 weeks back one of the stalks on the plant had blossomed and I had made a post regarding that, while the second stalk was full of buds.

But today they all opened up in the sun and I took some pictures.

All photos have been touched-up using GIMP, scaled in size and taken with my
mobile camera, Samsung Galaxy S6 edge

The whole stalk in full bloom, with new flowers

The plant with both the stalks visible at its normal spot

The whole plant, which I pulled out into the sun for some photos. The stalk on the left is the old one and has been blooming for over 2 weeks now

I really like those top two photos! The top one really shows off the complicated structure of their flowers. You can just imagine a bee, or whatever insect pollinates these, brushing against all the important flower parts as it goes deep into the blossom. Your second image is great at showing how the flowers all go together. I think it's so hard to get a good shot of a big orchid structure like that.

But that photo of the whole plant, out in the sun, shows how dedicated you are to that plant. It sure takes up a lot of space. @Norbu, the master orchidist!

Thank you for your kind words. Yes these are complicated plants and I have been beyond happy to see this plant bloom when I did not expect it too.
It was difficult to photograph due to its size, and I am glad you like it.

You're welcome, @norbu. Your plants are in good hands!

wow!

Get that a lot :))

Thanks!
