Vanilla plants can grow well in the tropics with an altitude of about 400-600 mdp, has a rainfall of about 1500-2500 mm / year, has an optimal air temperature of about 20-30 degrees Celsius and has an air humidity of about 65% -75%. Good soil to plant vanilla is loose soil, sandy clay and rich in organic material with a pH or soil acidity of about 5.5-6.5.


Preparation of Vanilla Seedlings

Vanilla seedlings can be obtained with 2 caea that is generative way or using seed and vegetative way by cuttings. but many people use seeds derived from cuttings. Vanilla plants that will be used as seeds are healthy plants, superior, have a high productivity and tolerant of pests and diseases. Next cut the trunk 30-35 cm long to be used as seedlings of cuttings, the stem can you cut by using a knife or cutter carefully so as not to damage the breeding plants.

After getting the next seeds seedlings cuttings are seeded in planting polybag measuring about 25 × 40 cm that has been filled with the media planting a mixture of soil and compost fertilizer with a ratio of 2: 1.
