From our favorite seed store, Baker Creek!
Each year, we like to try at least a few new things to grow in our garden, and our number one seed supply store is Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Company. Thankfully, they are close enough that we get to visit at least a couple of times each year. This year we were expanding our Summer Squash variety, and the small, round "Desi" squash was one that we really wanted to try.
Originally from India, this incredible squash only takes about 40 days to produce, making it the earliest squash that I've ever grown. Obviously, when compared to the more traditional Yellow Summer Squash above, you can see how different it really is. We enjoyed eating our first one for lunch today, and are certainly looking forward to enjoying many more this growing season. Have you ever seen, grew, or tried this variety before? If so, please let me know what you thought of it. Here's a few more photos!

Is it really tiny like that and ready to harvest?

Yeah, it's a smaller one. The seeds were already beginning to form. Good question though!
I am really interested! I would like to have this kind of seeds and generate more. I love plantings... I will try to ask Indian people here if they have like that seeds? Waiting for the month of September to start planting...

Then STEEMED it is!
Wow, it really a good thing to try so many types of planting seeds each season. It's really coming out great. Thanks for sharing this with us.

And thank you for checking it out!
Desi is good. I have grown them prior years and they do okay in my mixed summer squash but I have liked the Rond de nice variety as they get a bit bigger. Most of the round summer squash are early producers.
