Today was a spring cleaning day, so I had to find a way out of it somehow

The best way I have found to skive off cleaning is to do something in the garden. So I asked my wife which plants in our overgrown herb garden she wanted to keep.

Most of them have gone to seed, and on reflection most of them we don’t use. So I was given instructions to rip them all out (except a couple) and get rid of them.

The only replacement plant my wife asked for was rosemary. Her rosemary baked potatoes are delicious, so I was more than happy to buy the biggest rosemary plant I could find.

I also got some rhubarb, which I used to love as a kid, some peas and sweet corn, and an aubergine plant.

Once I got back hoe it was time to get ripping. So I tugged and pulled and dug until I had a nice clean garden to start from. All that was left over was the sorrel and chives.

I was more than happy to see the silverbeet go.

Then I planted my new plants and covered them with a fresh layer of potting mix and gave the whole garden a good watering.

I also potted up some sweet basil and mint that my wife was growing on the windowsill.

Now all that remains is to see which of them will survive the night. I hope they do. I love the idea of being able to get some fresh vegies from my own garden.

Only time will tell.
