we mulched along side the beds with woodchips in paths and added compost as they grew. we will mulch with hay/manure mix from our goat stalls this winter when they die back.

Yeah I've been thinking about woodchipping our paths as well. With that hay/manure mix those plants are gonna go gangbusters next year!
