Funko Pops have taken over a huge part of the collecting world over the last few years. You can't go to a convention without seeing them everywhere, many comic and toy stores have more Pops then anything else at this point, and the demand for them seems to keep growing.
Never thought Pops would account for so much of our business but they sell great. Each day we are shipping multiple Pops from Amazon sales and always sell a few at the store.
For those that dabble in Pops, but want to know how to end up potentially have some value down the road here are a few tips.
- Exclusive stickers tend to make a Pop have more value
- Box condition is critical!
- Large production run lines like Marvel/DC are less likely to jump in value vs smaller production lines like Anime
That all said, in my opinion just buy what you love and don't worry to much about future value. But for sure try to grab the nicest box possible when you are shopping.
I have a coworker who collects Pops. I think he trades some and keeps some of his favorites. He is always receiving packages every week.
It can become very addicting for people as there are SO many lines they have licenses for. Plus they keep coming up with new designs for characters that they have already made pops for. It's truly never ending.
Know people with collections that get into the thousands of pops and lots of customers that have hundreds of them.
