Like they always say: You have to change people, places, and things.
When I was getting ready to leave my treatment center and step back into the real world all the instructors stressed that I NEEDED to stay away from old places, people, and things that reminded me of when I was in active addiction.
At first I resisted this. I wanted to go back home, back to my old friends, back to my old life before everything went downhill.
And so I did.🤦🏻
And quickly everything went downhill again. I realized it was nearly impossible for me to keep my sobriety when I was surrounded by all the old places and people I used to get high with.
I soon decided to move away. I found a new place to live, a good stable job that I enjoyed, and I made all new friends that support me and my sobriety.
Continually returning to the same negative environment, does absolutely no good for you. It may be hard at first, being somewhere new. And very lonely at first. But, in the end it's definitely worth it. ✨
Your post is reblogged and upvoted by me. It is a good post. Thank you @recoveryinc
Thank you! It is greatly appreciated!
It is not a good idea to go back to those places where one can fall. I think the best thing to do is to surround yourself with people who will help you move forward, vitamin people
Yes 100%. The people you choose to surround yourself with are so important. If you surround yourself with negative people then you'll become a negative person as well. So, if you choose to surround yourself with good, positive, successful people then no doubt you'll start to take after them.
The people in your daily life help determine who you are and how you live. That's why, just like you said it's best to surround yourself with people who will help you move forward in life.
