Crabs are decapod crustaceans of the infraorder Brachyura, which typically have a very short projecting "tail", usually hidden entirely under the thorax. They live in all the world's oceans, in fresh water, and on land, are generally covered with a thick exoskeleton, and have a single pair of pincers. Wikipedia
A kilo of crabs is worth 150 pesos.
They are sold in our streets here in Las Piñas, Philippines every early morning. They are still very fresh. They are placed in styropore container and put on top of a three wheeled moving cart.
Crabs are to die for. The best way to cook it is to just put in in a wok, add a little seasoning, cover for about 5 minutes and its ready!
Squid are cephalopods in the superorder Decapodiformes with elongated bodies, large eyes, eight arms and two tentacles. Like all other cephalopods, squid have a distinct head, bilateral symmetry, and a mantle. Wikipedia
A kilo of squid is much much more expensive than crabs. It is worth like upto 500 pesos per kilo. It is also sold by vendors roaming around our streets during the morning aboard their three wheeled cart. These squids usually come from the southern parts of Manila like Batangas or Quezon.
Best way to cook these fresh squids is to put a fulling of tomato, onions & cabbage inside it and then grill or fry it to perfection.
Crabs & Squids are two of my all time favorite seafoods that are easy to get in my country. We get it fresh daily !
