A lie is a statement that deviats from or perverts the truth, lieing which is the act is to tell the untrue, pretend with the intention of deceiving.
Why do people lie?
This is a big question to answer has many find it difficult. Lieing can be a character has much being honest in what you say. People lie for different reasons. For example, our parents lie to us while we were kids just to keep us from stressing them sometimes. However Should parents lie 🤥 to their children?
When children are very small👶, occasional lies to children are harmless. In fact, some lies can be quite fun for both children and adults, imaginary creatures, for example. Small white lies in order to avoid excessive distress can shield children from harsh realities and keep a day with small children go much more smoothly. As children grow older and approach their teenage years, lies should become less frequent and eventually cease completely. Teenagers are especially sensitive to lies and lies will endanger the already precarious parent-child relationship at this difficult age. Children need to be taught the value of truth and sincerity, and parents should always lead by example.
People also lie to save their loved ones or protect themselves from trouble - white lie but a lie is always a lie..
How do you spot a Lie
It may be easy to spot a lie with someone you know well. You may spot a lie in an averted gaze, a slight hesitation, a clearing of the throat, etc. Lying, to most people, takes more effort than telling the truth, so there is often a slight change in behavior that accompanies a lie. Detecting lies in a stranger is harder, since there are differences in how people behave while lying. While one person may hesitate when telling a lie, another may start to talk more quickly with more emphasis. One person may look away while another may intentionally gaze straight into your eyes. There is no single tell-tale sign for a lie. If you have the opportunity to talk and question a person at length, it becomes much easier to spot lies. The person who you are talking to should be relaxed. If they are nervous😓 in the first place, it becomes very tricky to catch lies. Police officers 👮will often play “good cop” for this reason. They will first ask open ended question so that the suspect gets comfortable and starts talking. Then, they may suddenly ask for an unexpected detail, or ask the suspect to narrate a story backwards. They may also ask the same question multiple times, except in slightly different ways. Liars often get confused and start contradicting themselves. Keep in mind however, that lie detection is not 100% accurate, even for trained professionals. While the ability to spot a lie may be a useful and fun skill to have, don’t go around accusing people of telling lies, unless you have solid proof!.
