However, these experiments may have some negative effects, but no one knows them yet. People often make fun of progress, because sometimes technology brings new problems when it tries to solve old ones. Think about the genes ! Scientists have genetically engineered them in laboratories. The results might be terrifying. Because of this fear, many people have some serious concerns about the technology and its effects on food industry. Some people have a name for genetically engineered food : "Frankenfood". On the other hand, many people believe tahat genetically manipulated food can bring many benefits to our lives. It may increase food production throughout the world and begin to solve the hunger problem. Genetically manipulated food may taste better and it may have longer shelf life. Genetically engineered food may have another advantage ; almost all farmers use chemicals -pesticides- to protect their fruits and vegetables from harmful insects. Genetically manipulated food may alleviate the use of pesticides. By this way, producers may decrease the problem of pesticide in food. Finally, these foods could be profitable for the food industry, and this could help the world economy.
