How to rock the wheelchair on festivals in Germany

Festivals and summertime belong together, at least for me, at least since 2010, when I visited my first one. But living with my cerebral palsy since birth I need to take my wheelchair to those festivals I love. Today I want to tell you in what ways the festivals in Germany are wheelchair accessible.

Special campgrounds

So far I have been to Rock am Ring and the Wacken Open Air both of them have special campgrounds for people with handicap.
These campground has a unit of toilets and showers that are accessible for people with handicap and of course wheelchair accessible. These campgrounds have lanes and paths made so one can go everywhere they want in the wheelchair. So these are designed to enable all the people there to explore as best as possible.
Exploring is much easier at Rock am Ring for it takes place at the Nürburgring, which is a racetrack and therefore all the roads and the festival area are on solid ground. (Because there are concrete)
At Wacken Open Air it´s a little more tricky because there is mud, a lot of mud, everywhere.
But no matter where you go you will always find awesome people on festivals that will help to get where you want to go.

Platforms

So festivals are awesome. You get to hear and see so many awesome bands live. In order for you to enjoy the concert, you can go onto a special platform before each big stage. From there you can view the show safely and have fun meeting new people. I will never forget the fun I had during a Steel Panther concert in the middle of a fun crowd of girls from the UK. It was awesome!
One of my friends was always up on the platform with me. Not all of them could come with at one, only one "assistant" is allowed but it worked out fine.

Have you seen wheelchairs on festivals?

Did you know about any of this? Have you seen wheelchairs on festivals? Have you been on festivals in a wheelchair? Let me know! :)
