The reason I don't like using the word is it contains a big germ theory lie, that we can become immune to certain flying bugs which is the whole basis for vaccines. Looked at you link regarding contagion and there is definitely something to collective hysteria, some things ARE contagious, like yawning or laughing but not disease.
