Faith-based organizations with government agencies provide foods for 400,000 individuals

Ghana’s approach to combat the spread of the novel covid-19, implied, certain parts of the country were to experience a lockdown for a fortnight. Upon a successful half of the strategy, populace in the affected areas, are anticipating on the lift of the ban.

The affected areas of the ban have less privileged people who depend on what is popular known in Ghana, “hand-to-mouth” and cannot afford three square meals per day. These vulnerable individuals were not left to meander their way to starvation, as, there has been a consortium between the government agencies and faith-based organizations to bring relieve to these individuals.

According to the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, “The Ministries of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Local Government and Rural Development, the National Disaster Management Organisation, working with the MMDCE,s and faith-based organization has provided foods for up to 400,000 individuals and homes in the affected areas of the restrictions. The food was in the form of dry packages and hot meals and be delivered to vulnerable communities in the affected areas”.

Several churches have lived up to the humanitarian standards and aided in enormous ways to help government fight the Covid-19.
