What a lovely hobby to do as a family. You guys are really lucky to have such beautiful nature close by. I like seeing how the scenery around where you live changes with the seasons. That dangerous spot in the water sounded like a tense moment. So glad it turned out alright. And sometimes these little accidents are all the more valuable for teaching everyone to respect the water without actually getting hurt.

That's great you take your kids out to do fun and adventurous things. Alotta parents are afraid to let their kids do anything remotely unsafe, let alone go outside.

That is some amazing nature you have around you. The river looks like such a chilled out place. Serious trek to get there though with all the gear. I bet it was a scary moment with the brush. I havent tried my boys on the river yet. I used to go canoeing etc when I was in my teens and we have a nice river nearby that I played by as a kid. I want to take them at some point just not sure when yet.
