The bees had a rough year last year. It rained too much for them to gather nectar. At this point they are trying to feed babies with the last of their scarce winter stores. The moment buds open and the temperature rises, the foragers are rushing pollen to the nurse bees.
Spring is happening!

Our bees had a really hard winter too. We lost several hives just from the cold and damp. I hope the spring and summer are more forgiving!
You have a purple crocus too! I've had one out there for a few days, but no sun to make it open and look pretty...
