Impressive post, man! :) I'm a web developer myself and I can truly relate to the "IT guy"-concept! And yes, it is really hard with the extra work ontop of my job, but the amazing feeling you get when you are able to make someone happy is what makes it worth it :) I made a Diceware based password generator for the community, it took about 12 hours to make and the post only made me $0.02 richer, but that's not gonna stop me :) And whilst I'm out of ideas, I'll be spreading that love <3 :)
