Changes made between the king james and NIV versions of the bible to hide things

in #gnosis7 years ago (edited)

I would rather call my self a new ager than a christian. This is because if I were to say that I believe in christianity, people tend to get a different image in their heads to what I actually mean. The modern christian religion is almost nothing like the one that Jesus originally taught. Fortunately the gnostic writings (such as the gospel of Thomas) that were hidden by the church for so many years are beginning to be uncovered and people are starting to find out the truth. Today I want to talk specifically about how the bible has been changed between the king James and NIV version. I generally prefer to use KJV even (even though I check a number of sources such as the Wycliff bible or codex sinaiticus). That does not mean that it is superior in every way because it too has its problems. I just like the King James though because the newer version of the bible tend to change or butcher the meaning of too many things. Below are some examples of this

  • In Psalm 82:1 KJ says that God sits on a congregation amongst the Gods. This verse has been changed in newer bible versions to say the word assembly instead of Gods. This was possibly done to cover up the view that polytheism is being biblical justified
  • Job 39:9-12- in the king James they mention unicorn however newer translations replace that word with ox. I suppose the people who did the new bible thought a unicorn was a bit too unbelievable to readers. So they just took that part out
  • Mathew 19:16-17 -Here is another change in the bible. It says

"Now behold, one came and said to Him, “Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?” So He said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments".

Notice how the guy calls him "Good teacher" and Jesus asks "why do you call me good". Now let's look at this verse in the NIV version. It says this

"Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?” “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.”

Notice how in the translation, the rich man says "teacher" instead of "good teacher". Jesus no longer asks "why do you call me good?" and instead says “Why do you ask me about what is good?”. This is not a slight change in wording but they actually changed the meaning. Probably to cover up what some may read as a contradiction to the idea of he trinity

These are a few examples of the many changes that exist
