The words "The Lord" was used in the King James Version (KJV) to replace "Yahweh" (The evil creator) whom iesus was sent to redeem us from and to abolish the old law. iesus brought us the new Law, which is to love your neighbor as yourselves.
Ephesians 2:15 in Ancient Greek:
Greek (Textus Receptus):
"τὴν ἔχθραν ἐν τῇ σαρκὶ αὐτοῦ, τὸν νόμον τῶν ἐντολῶν ἐν δόγμασιν καταργήσας, ἵνα τοὺς δύο κτίσῃ ἐν αὑτῷ εἰς ἕνα καινὸν ἄνθρωπον, ποιῶν εἰρήνην."
"By abolishing the enmity in His flesh, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so that He might create in Himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace."
Colossians 2:14 highlights the transformative power of Christ's crucifixion. It explains that through His death, He erased the "record of debt," which symbolized the laws and obligations we could not fulfill, as well as the sins that condemned us. This "handwriting of ordinances" stood against humanity, exposing our shortcomings and creating a barrier between us and God. By nailing this record to the cross, Christ nullified its power to condemn, removing the separation caused by sin and granting believers freedom and reconciliation with God. This verse underscores the victory and liberation achieved through Jesus’ sacrifice.
Luke 16:16 highlights a pivotal shift in God’s plan for humanity. It explains that the era of the Law and the Prophets, which guided God’s people through the Old Testament, continued until the time of John the Baptist. With John’s arrival and, more significantly, the ministry of Jesus, a new phase began where the message of the kingdom of God became the central focus. This verse emphasizes the urgency and determination with which people respond to this message, reflecting the transformative impact of Christ’s teachings and the desire of many to enter God’s kingdom.
Ancient Greek (Romans 10:4):
"τέλος γὰρ νόμου Χριστὸς εἰς δικαιοσύνην παντὶ τῷ πιστεύοντι."**
Translation in English:
"For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes."
Romans 10:4 expresses that Christ fulfills the purpose of the law by providing a way to righteousness through faith. The law's role in guiding people toward God is completed in Christ, who offers salvation not by works but by belief in Him. This shifts the focus from adherence to the law to faith in Jesus as the path to righteousness.
