What a freakin waste... yeah they can recast it, but what a foolish waste.

If you find that to be a foolish waste, you are not gonna like this video:

What the hell!!!!!! These guys are nuts.

Yup, this is basically what youtube is filled with lately when I press "popular" videos.

They should have thrown in the Menthos with "Ryan the Dumbass".

Haha, I watched that video a long time ago, laughed so hard when they expected something big to happen. xD

Hahahaha! What's more white trash than an above ground swimming pool? Why, an above ground swimming pool filled with Coke. Duh.

Well, it is a bit wasteful; casting, assaying, and hallmarking aren't free.

Youtube destruction always has a delta value of what was destroyed compared to the income gained. For example, destroying an iphone in a blender might set you back 500$ but might earn you 1000$ in exposure, so the delta is +500$.

Crushing gold possibly has one of the lowest deltas of the kind, given that selling 24k gold of 99.9+ purity will get you near spot price - at any form. Practically, it's all profit from Youtube exposure / ad revenue.

Having said that, I think old washing machines where they throw bricks in them so that they can "die" in agony in some backyard, have the best positive delta. These will probably allow their owners to buy new ones ahahaha...

Good point Alex!

I am going to quote someone on Facebook (because their comment was better than mine)

The comments on this video are pure gold.

Bwahahaha!

Hahahaha! Are people really that stupid? They realize none of the gold has gone anywhere, right? It's still worth the exact same that it was worth before they crushed it?
SMH...people are as dense as that bar, sometimes. Cool video, btw. Cool to watch how soft and malleable a metal gold really is.

Technically a little bit of value is lost, as the bar was both gold and B&C's certification of the amount and purity of the gold. That certification has real value in the market, and that value was destroyed in the crushing; however, without a doubt that lump is going straight back to B&C to be melted down and recast, which they will regard as a very cheap process. The cost to them of casting 1kg of gold twice is super low, and far less than the advertising they got by splashing their logo all over this kid's 10-million-view youtube video. Did you know off the top of your head the names of any gold-bullion-casting companies before watching this video? Exactly.

A channel that just crushes stuff has 275k subscribers! Strange world we live in

This is illegal! You can't destroy money is favorite. Haha.

Smart guy btw 8.5 million views $$ and he can just melt and mold it back into shape. Thanks for the video.

No problem! The comments really have me cracking up.
