Hey all,
For the past few days I've been drinking Golden Milk in moderation. It is a drink made with milk, turmeric, and other spices. It has ridiculous health benefits and it's really good.
Some of the purported benefits include:
- helps in digestion through the increased production of bile
- can help insomnia, if drank after a meal and before bed (important not to drink in a completely empty stomach due to bile production - or at least that's how I've found it to be)
- liver tonic and anti-inflammatory
- blood purifier as liver is improved - also can help clear skin conversely
- helps boost immune system
- and others, you have an internet connection! Search it!
Additionally, the Turmeric spice comes from the rhizome of a plant - essentially the stems of a plant but underground. This spice looks similar to ginger, but is actually from a completely different part of a plant.
Anyway, I feel really great drinking it and adds variety to my diet. I really recommend it for everyone, especially with this horrible cold season upon us that is probably handing some people's immune system to them on a plate.
Here is a recipe:
- 1 cup of milk cut with 2/3 water
- 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder (you can use less if it's your first time and work up)
- a sprinkling of black pepper (increases the absorption of turmeric)
- nutmeg (to taste)
- cinnamon (to taste)
- honey (added after taking off stove)
Boil ingredients on the stove for about 10 minutes and add honey once done! It's super delicious! With the horrible season were facing, it might be the kick in the immune system that some of us need.
