I agree with some of the commenters and yourself that in the short term, the entry of the vampire squids into the crypto exchanges could be a good thing as far as giving a veil of legitimacy to the crypto space to the general public and encouraging more people to enter the it, but I also think @krnel is spot on
The banksters getting into one of the biggest vrypto exchanges is troubling... Decentralization slowly seeping into the hands of centralized institutional control.... hmmm.... is this a pattern for the future taking shape?
For likeminded people like ourselves and many others on Steemit who are awake and aware, there will always be an alternative to the vampire squid exchanges and if there isn't, someone will build one like seems to be happening with the partnership between EOS and Bitfinex you mentioned.
2018 is going to be a big year for crypto IMO and the bigger it gets, the more eager the vampires will be to suck every last drop of goodness out of it.
