MORNING DEW: 30/11/2019
THEME: GOD DESTROYED SODOM AND GOMORRAH
TEXT: GENESIS 18:20-21; 19:4, 5, 23-28
20 The LORD also said, “How great is the disapproval of Sodom and Gomorrah! Their sin is so very serious!
21 I’m going down to see whether they’ve acted according to the protests that have reached me. If not, I wish to know.”
4 Before they could lie down, all the men of Sodom and its outskirts, both young and old, surrounded the house.
5 They called out to Lot and asked, “Where are the men who came to visit you tonight? Bring them out to us so we can have sex with them!”
23 The sun had risen over the land about the time Lot reached Zoar.
24 Then the LORD rained sulfur and fire out of the sky from the LORD on Sodom and Gomorrah,
25 overthrowing those cities, all of the plain, and everyone who lived in the cities. He also destroyed the plants that grew out of the ground.
26 But Lot’s wife looked back as she lingered behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.
27 Abraham went early in the morning to the place where he had stood before the LORD earlier.
28 He looked off toward Sodom, Gomorrah, and the entire plain, and he saw smoke rising from the land like smoke from a furnace.
THE ABOMINATION OF SODOM AND GOMORRAH
What at all was the problem of Sodom and Gomorrah? In Chapter eighteen the Verse twenty, the Bible says "the LORD also said; How great is the disapproval of Sodom and Gomorrah! Their sin is so very serious!"
Their sin was so serious. What was the sin?
Look at Chapter nineteen the Verse five; "... Bring them out to us so we can have sex with them."
The people of Sodom and Gomorrah were homosexuals. When the angels of God visited the land to inspect it they wanted to have sex with them.
Have you seen how great their sin was? They wanted to have sex with divine beings. If God Himself was there they would have wanted to do same. That tells you how great their sin was. Any nation gotten to this level does not regard God, and they don't believe that there is God. People in such nations don't see sin to be sin. They see sin to be a normal practice. They see church as a social club, so they can sell the church building out any time they want to.
This grievous practice by Sodom and Gomorrah was abomination before the Creator. He was not happy about the practice. It was not just homosexuality but so many atrocities were being done in the land. We can talk of lesbianism, killing, fornication, inhuman treatment, armed robbery, to mention but few. It grieved God that the people He created in His own image and likeness could involve themselves in such acts. At least they could have remembered the past, Noah time when God used rain to destroy human race and animals (Genesis 7).
God rained fire from heaven to destroy all the people, including their leaders, men, women, children, babies and innocent animals. Beloved, God has not changed. What happened to Sodom and Gomorrah can happen to any nation living in this sin. Study carefully all the nations that have approved same sex marriage, the troubles they go through.
Ghana is enjoying peace today because of the understanding we have as a people and the prayers of the Saints, but let Ghana begins to see things the way other nations see them, then we should be ready to face what they are facing. When it comes to this moment most ministers of the Gospel will be corrupt, most churches will be corrupt more than what we see today and only some few Noahs will be around, and that's scary.
Beloved, go on your knees and cry for Ghana. What happened
to Sodom and Gomorrah can happen to any nation. Have you forgotten the June 4 incidence? Don't take God's grace for granted. God demands more from us under this dispensation.
God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because of sin, and can do it to any nation despite
His grace.
MEMORY VERSE
"They called out to Lot and asked, “Where are the men who came to visit you tonight? Bring them out to us so we can have sex with them!” (Genesis 19:5).
PRAYER
Father, help my nation, to desist from any sinful acts, in Jesus' Name!
