Yes you are reading it well. Websites such as Steemit.com are feeding Google.
I took here and there some popular websites which are also feeding Google:
- https://coinmarketcap.com (the website you are probably looking at in order to check the value of all crypto coins)
- https://bitcoin.org (yes the official website of bitcoin)
and I did not have the time to grab the full list of them.
All of them are using Google Analytics in order to track your activity you can check it just by looking at the source code of each of these websites. The main issue that I can see here is that those technologies are supposed to be Open Source (except for Ripple) and to promote Open Source. So why are they sending all of those data to their potential biggest competitor?
Let's make it even scarrier:
- kraken.com
are using Google Analytics... and even on the back-office, which mean that every action you performed as a trader can technically be sent to Google servers too.
This content is not a joke, just check it on your own with your browser. I think that all the webmasters of those websites did not understand really why Google Analytics is offered for free by Google.
Google is the largest search engine. makes sense why they would use it to me. Although yes, Google is a gigantic spy network at this point for the government.
thanks for your answer, it makes sense to me that my article is not detailed enough.
