If you have ever shopped online or basically been on the internet you should be familiar with Google reCAPTCHA. If you are not familiar with reCAPTCHA, Google describes reCAPTCHA as "a free service that protects your website from spam and abuse." Well maybe Google reCAPTCHA does help protect websites from spam and abuse; but have you noticed anything weird with reCAPTCHA recently?
As a sneaker "reseller" I am attempting to purchase products within seconds to successfully complete my order before hundreds of thousands of people and bots. More often than not I will have to solve at least one Google reCAPTCHA. Recently, during a few very limited releases I was not able to successfully purchase the shoe or item to resell because every single time I would attempt to solve the reCAPTCHA some error would occur. Now I thought this may have just been me as I run page monitors and scripts constantly, so I decided to take a few measures to try and resolve my issue. Now I cleared my cache and cookies in Chrome and even proceeded to attempt these reCAPTCHAs on different browsers (Safari and Firefox) with no avail.
I reached out to many fellow "resellers," "sneakerheads," and "hypebeasts" and asked them if they had been trouble solving Google reCAPTCHA and the answer was the same across the board - "Yes!"
Go ahead and try it for yourself. I am not saying you will never be able to solve reCAPTCHA... but there are more than a few bugs riddling the system. For example, many times reCAPTCHA will ask you to select all of the squares with store fronts or roads... good luck with that.
Google NEEDS to do something about their reCAPTCHA system because it is clearly broken. I can personally assure you that reCAPTCHA is doing an excellent job of protecting websites from humans than it does from bots and scripts.
