This is Daffy,
He had a rather short life!
Usually I try to make Googlies that will stay out in the wild for a while. But when I met Daffy a few weeks ago, I knew this messenger of spring would only have a short life and so I decided to bring him home with me.
But apparently he didn't like that too much. After just a few days he started looking a bit "out of juice" already.

I had to do a bit of research but my theory checks out:

I guess that means Daffy's indeed a real "daffodil", at least if we go by one of the definitions in the urban dictionary which translates the meaning to:
a man with a vagina
Now... I could go on and praise @hazel420 for being so on point with identifying the nonexistence of a binary gender in Daffy or go on about how I excel in botany because I immediately diagnosed his early pregnancy correctly... but I've got some bad news and a confession to make.

Yes, despite promising to take good care of him, I didn't keep up with my commitment. To be honest, I actually completely forgot he was even still here, in the middle of my always cluttered living room table.
I know, shame on me right?! The marvel of life happening right here and I completely failed to pay attention and poor Daffy withered away unnoticed.
But in all of this, his spirit has survived and his message of spring has been received. He might be brittle now and he'll probably turn into dust soon, but he still has a lovely expression on his face... well, considering the circumstances at least.

Yeah I'm also trying it out on my blog. Daffy was a great partner. The loss of his departure will only surpass the new GOOGLYEYES smile ;-)
Many will follow to take his place. It was beautiful while it lasted, and now he's forever on the blockchain, so I think he was able to fill his destiny.
Fortunately, daffodils breed from onion, so it certainly left behind the possibility of offspring ;-)
You're quite right, his children will be there next year again, who knows, maybe some of them will even have #GooglyEyes again?!
