yeah, those are quite a bit bigger than the usual ones, maybe 2.5cm in diameter... I used the same ones for

I think I took the photo from a crouched position, and the eyes here are a bit further up than, maybe at 1,85 or so... but I think the perspective is tricking you, it really isn't particularly high up.

But the one who started it all has been lost to the sands of time. They say these blocks are immutable, but the image servers obviously are not! What a shame we might never see again, what the original brick-face around here looked like.
