If James Bond wanted to use bitcoin on a furtive mission in the jungle, he almost certainly couldn't drop by a Starbucks to utilize the wifi.
And since internet connections are not always available, private or reliable, cryptocurrency users require alternative ways to attach to the network. Hence the New York-based startup goTenna, established in 2012 by Brazilian siblings Jorge Perdomo and Daniela, is joining forces with Samourai Wallet to start an Android app this summer that permits users to send bitcoin payments with no internet connection.
Publicized on Monday, the txTenna app will ensure users to sync up their mobile using a goTenna gadget, which costs $179 for each pair, then snap the wallet app's settings to do offline transactions and send the bitcoin.
