It is surprising to read an article praises the benefits of decentralized governance and decentralized decision making.
AFAIK Steemit is all but decentralized :
- Most of the power is concentrated in a few whales account
- The top big whales account are related to Steemit Inc
- Witnesses are ranked based on power of their electors, not on the numbers of votes.
As in real life, the richest are the powerful ones.
Maybe this will change in the future. Maybe it's your final goal.
Maybe ...
That's why I'm participating here, full of hope.
I hope power will move to the masses.
Even Steemit needs a revolution!
My entire goal in life is decentralized power. Steem is an experiment that is making many positive results.
@dantheman I have read most of your posts, the Steemit whitepaper, press reviews and forged my opinion: no doubt on the positive will of your project.
Indeed, Steemit is an experience, often positive. I participate in this experience and I also try to add my own positivity.
This does not prevent me to wonder about the possible deviance or deficiencies such an experience may suffer.
I think many people are lured by the concept of blockchain, which they associate with decentralization or do not understand well.
This also applies to the concept of democracy. There isn't one unique model for democracy, but several, different from each other.
The blockchain is currently one of the only thing that is fully decentralized in Steemit project.
I'm not saying the current situation is wrong. But it is clear to me that many things have yet to evolve so that we can also fully associate decentralized governance and decentralized democracy with the Steemit experience.
Your promise is now sealed in the blockchain ;)
I think that the majority of new accounts come to Steemit for "social media platform where anyone can earn rewards" and not to adhere to an ideology. I saw Steemit as a "business", not as a new gouvernent.
And more, the masses don't have time and skills to make decisions on all daily activities. There is a gap between rhetoric, theory and reality of a society. So why the number of accounts increased but not the number of posts and votes?
Steemit babies being born everyday
Some can write, some not.
But none die.
That's the eternal life miracle of the blockchain.
