This post is a response to the question [“How much control do individuals, large industries and businesses, or the government all have over financial crises, and how should responsibility over the outcome be shared?"] (https://www.proofofbrain.blog/gradnium/@dbruce/week-04-questions-2008-financial) posted by @dbruce
The Individual and Industry:
I believe that we as individuals have the largest role in financial crises. We as humans follow trends and what is being broadcasted to us as necessary. With that being said, media and industries are the enablers of the financial crisis. They continue to parade and boast a dream life to individuals and in turn consume their consumers. I believe that it is our fault as consumers to not falsify this advertisement and see what is truly important in life. If a small placement ad or trend can drive a person to change who they are, do they truly know themselves? There needs to be a stronger push back in society as to what is meant by individuals. When someone says individual they mean to be you but, how can you, be you, when your life is guided by fads. On the other hand, I do believe that advertisement and some purchasing based on what is being broadcasted to us is important. Without it I don’t know where our market would be but, there is a limit.
The Government:
I believe that the government is the mediator between the consumers and producers. The government has the most power because they are the “law” yet they do not necessarily control the market. Reflecting a bit on the topic, I am more led to believe that the government steps in when there is an issue between the consumers and the producers to try to balance their demands out. I do unfortunately think that intervening to take control of the situation is sometimes why the market crashes so swiftly. The consumers and producers unspokenly understand how to sway one another and work each other's issues out through time, which is why I believe that the responsibility of the outcome should fall onto the consumers and producers. I believe that there is a need for the government to step in if they start to derail, but taking full control places a wedge into the system of the producers and the consumers. In the end, when the government tries to intervene between affairs is results in backlash from the public and the corporations. They should accept the role of mediator rather than dictator over the situation, while we are individuals and industries should assume more responsibility.
