Week 05 Questions -- Central Planning and Totalitarianism

in #gradnium3 years ago

The Economist

  1. Road to Serfdom introduces the idea of economic planning, and its effect on a person's economic freedom. In addition, Heyak also states that economic planning inherently relates to all freedoms, not just economic freedom. In what ways does economic planning affect those freedoms? and how?

  2. Collectivism, attracts corrupt power-hungry leaders, which ultimately, leads to totalitarianism. What aspects of communism, socialism, and/or democratic socialism, lead to this totalitarianism? What aspects of our government and other types of government if any, prevent this take-over.

  3. People often assert the argument that central planning is inevitable. This is not true. How can competition and economic freedom allow for the economy and society as a whole to flourish? In what ways does it restrict it? Can the two blends or take specific ideas from each to create a perfect system?
