Week 03 Response - Pandemic Regulations

in #gradnium3 years ago

This post is a response to the question ["Should a global pandemic affect the limits of government regulation? (i.e. limiting gatherings within private residences)"] (https://peakd.com/myopinion/@lavender22/week-03-questions-the-role) posed by @lavender22.

A global pandemic is what the world has been living in for the past year and a half now with the coronavirus. The United States has been on anywhere from strict lock down to almost back to normal life back to looking like we have the possibility to go back to lockdown with the new delta variant. Deciding what to do in times like this can be vary complicated. Countries like Canada are just now coming out of their strict lockdown where we have been out of our strictest lock down for months now. Lots of new regulations and guidelines have come about during the process, one being that there should only be so many people that are not your immediate family allowed in your home. I do not believe the government should have the power to decide things like that. You own or rent your home and people are coming over by their free will. It is a free country. It is kind of like how the United States tries to keep church and government separate. Is that line crossed when the government decides that you are not allowed to go to church? We had several months this year where the CDC protocols kept us from doing just that. There are lines to be crossed. I believe this pandemic helped America decide where those lines were in a situation like this. Laws have been passed in places such as Oklahoma regarding the wearing of masks in education systems. The past year and a half has been a world wind for everyone including the employees of the CDC and law makers who have to make these decisions about what regulations to implement. Hopefully, this experience will allow the United States as well as the rest of world to better prepare and set protocols for the possibility of this happening again.
