This post is in response to a question posed by @dbruce (https://peakd.com/week-14/@dbruce/week-14-questions-the-bigger):
What do you expect to be discussed in the film The Bigger Bubble?
In this sequel to The Housing Bubble, I expect the discussion to focus primarily on the negative consequences associated with the recent coronavirus pandemic. Over the past year and a half, there have been a multitude of social changes that we have all endured. Many people have lost their jobs, had to downsize their current housing, and were forced to reevaluate their priorities. In the face of all of these live changing decisions, there has been one beacon of hope for some: stimulus checks. There have been many citizens who have personally profited from the continued distribution of unemployment benefits. In most cases, Americans have received more money for sitting at home and doing nothing than they would have if they continued working at the job that they no longer possess. I expect that this conflict will present itself at some point within the documentary as a current factor leading up to the upcoming housing bubble. Considerations will also be made for the fact that many citizens have had the opportunity to defer certain payments, such as their rent. This leads to an increase in fragility of the market as a whole and leaves the door wide open for another final crisis. Another point this documentary may bring up is the fact that the original housing bubble in 2008 never completely resolved itself. I suspect that the creators and curators of this film will dive into the timeline of events that connects the “end” of the first housing bubble to our current housing situation. They will most likely discuss how the actions of previous politicians have influenced each and every one of us within the United States of America, and how those actions will continue to influence us for decades to come. Overall, I think this documentary will discuss where we are currently heading as a nation and how we can steer ourselves in a more positive direction. Similar, to the first documentary, this one will explain this sequence of events in great detail.
