An analysis of a successful Hive post

in #gradnium3 years ago (edited)

Hey everyone, I have decided to look at a photography post by user @tattoodjay. His posts consistently generate respectable numbers in the photography lovers community. As someone who is new to Hive, it is difficult for me to identify exactly why this is the case. This isn't to say that his pictures aren't good, in fact the opposite is true. His photographs of nature in particular are often quite stunning. But I've scrolled past dozens of other photography posts by people who take pictures that are equally good but who go overlooked. To be quite honest, my current theory boils down to time and frequency. Tattoodjay seems to have been on Hive for quite a while, at least as far as I can see. It is easy to see that he is well-established in the community, and he has amassed over 5,000 followers. His roots go deep, and they reach way back, but this doesn't paint the full picture.

No doubt his large following is due in part because of his talent, but I see frequency to be an even greater factor in his success. He posts at least every day, and occasionally multiple times a day. He has a variety of "series," so to speak, that he comes back to on certain days which help give him a theme for some is his posts. As of writing this, the post I have linked at the bottom is his most recent post. This post doesn't fall within a running series of his, but it does contain his on-brand nature pics. My favorite by far is the last one, which is of a rock in the ocean. But to be blunt, this post is nothing crazy on a technical level. It has a few pictures, some short descriptions, camera information, and a brief intro explaining the theme, but that's a format I myself have even used. I truly think Tattoodjay has done a wonderful job putting in hard work to create a dedicated following and to stay consistent with his upload schedule. He does some great work, and I could only hope to have the same level of drive and dedication as he.
