That's an interesting thought, if not for the Maccabees, the Temple may have still been in complete disarray with trees and bushes growing in the courtyard when Messiah came. Instead it was defiled with money-changers and people selling doves. But Yeshua cleaned that leaven out of His Father's house, just in time for the festival of Unleavened Bread.
I agree that Hanukkah is a like a second feast of Tabernacles, 2 Maccabees even says so:
“And they kept eight days with gladness, as in the Feast of the Tabernacles, remembering that not long afore they held the feast of tabernacles, when they wandered in the mountains and dens like beasts. Therefore, they bare branches, and fair boughs, and palms also, and sang psalms unto him that had given them good success in cleansing his place" (2 Macc. 10:6-7)
HA...well I knew I heard that somewhere and look there it was right there in 1 Maccabees!
