This is my entry for @ruth-girl's "It's All Greek-Science-Geek To Me" contest. The main point of this contest is too find a scientific term that originates from Greek and share some information about it:
1. Find a scientific term that originates from Greek
Since I like like posting about weird stuff, I tried to find a really weird one. After 5 whole minutes of googling, I came up with this awesome scientific term: Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia
Does this pic cause fear to you? You might suffer from Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia! (credit)
2. Record yourself pronouncing the word
Being Greek didn't help much, that was one heck of a word to pronounce:
3. Try to depict it in a meme, photo, gif, collage or drawing of your own:

4. Explain what the word means
The word literally translates to the "fear of 666". It is derived from the greek words "εξακόσια", "εξήντα", "έξι" for "six hundred", "sixty", "six", and φόβος for fear. I am greek so you can trust me on this one!
5. Give a short but inclusive description of the term.
Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia is the irrational fear of the number 666. This phobia typically originates from religious belief and superstition. Although the term is real, it is usually "used humorously because of its length" [1].
Although being somewhat afraid of the number 666 is quite common, suffering from a real Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia phobia is relatively rare. [2]
Symptoms of Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia
Symptoms may vary but are pretty much what would you expect from any other phobia. Generally, the sufferer avoids anything that is even remotely linked to the number 666.
Here are some good examples, quoted from verywell.com:
Refusing to live in a home that bears this street number. For example, former President Ronald Reagan and wife, Nancy, moved to Bel-Air, Los Angeles, following his presidency. They changed the street number of their house from 666 to 668.
Finding yourself making compulsive decisions to consciously avoid having the number occur in your daily life. For example, if a grocery total is $6.66, you may feel compelled to add or subtract an item.
Driving around your neighborhood to change your odometer reading from 666 to 667 before you park your car.
Becoming particularly nervous or uncomfortable if 666 appears frequently, drawing connections between coincidental events.
There's not much else to say about this phobia, so here are two similar, weird sounding phobias:
Triskaidekaphobia & Paraskevidekatriaphobia (or friggatriskaidekaphobia)
- Triskaidekaphobia (from Greek τρις meaning "three", και meaning "and", δέκα meaning "10" and φόβος meaning "fear" or "morbid fear") is the fear or avoidance of the number 13. [3]
- The fear of Friday the 13th, is called paraskevidekatriaphobia (from Παρασκευή Paraskevi for Friday) or friggatriskaidekaphobia (after Frigg, the Norse goddess after whom Friday is named in English). [3]
The End
Hopefully you enjoyed my entry for @ruth-girl's contest and you found it as funny as I did. Think you can find a weirder scientific term that originates from Greek? Make sure to enter, I would love to see what you can come up with!

i see you managed to find the capslock button. Congratulations, you are smarter than an amoeba.
true, the post is hardly any scientific but guess what? It wasn't supposed to be, otherwise I would have chosen another term. :)
