"Grandizer U", also known as "UFO Robo Grendizer" (UFOロボ グレンダイザー), is a classic Japanese mecha anime series created by Go Nagai. It originally aired from 1975 to 1977 and is part of the larger Mazinger series of super robot anime. But, did you know that a new and modern version was recently created based on the same story, only in a modern version? The brand new "Grendizer U" hit Netflix in October 2024 and it is now available for everyone with a Netflix subscription, at least if you live in Japan or if you follow the instructions in this article.

"Grendizer" tells the story of Duke Fleed, a prince from the planet Fleed, who escapes to Earth after his homeworld is destroyed by the evil Vega Empire. He brings with him a powerful robot, Grendizer, which becomes Earth's primary defense against the invading forces of King Vega, who seeks to conquer the universe. On Earth, Duke Fleed takes the identity of Daisuke Umon and is adopted by Dr. Umon, a scientist who runs a research facility. Daisuke keeps a low profile until the Vega Empire discovers his location, prompting him to fight back using Grendizer, which is hidden in a secret underground base. You can see some more pictures and scenes from "Grendizer U" in the following Youtube clip.

This is how you can watch "Grendizer U" on Netflix if you live somewhere else than Japan!

As I already mentioned, "Grendizer U" is on Netflix in Japan. If you live somewhere else and search for "Grendizer U" on Netflix, you will only see that it doesn't exist, and instead get suggestions for other anime content worth watching. So, what can you do to stream "Grendizer U" on Netflix, besides traveling to Tokyo to eat some sushi and Kobe steak, and watch "Grendizer U" while doing so?

I wrote a detailed article explaining how it is possible for anyone with a Netflix subscription to watch Japanesse Netflix abroad last week. If you haven't seen it yet, take a look at it right here. But, let me also wrap it up quickly to you right now.

To succeed on your mission of streaming "Grendizer U" on Netflix in Japan without traveling to the country, you must purchase a cheap VPN subscription to either PureVPN or NordVPN.

Both the links above will take you to the website of the two VPN providers, and give you wonderful discounts far lower than the normal price of the services. If you still worry, you are also protected by the full refund policies used by both the companies, meaning you can cancel your subscription and ask for a full refund for 30 days after the date of purchase.

A VPN will encrypt your data and protect you online, and it isn't a coincidence that millions of people use VPN services daily worldwide. One of the side-effects of using a VPN is that your IP address will change, because all your traffic is sent through a so-called encrypted tunnel to a VPN server elsewhere in the world. As you use either NordVPN or PureVPN and connect to a server in Japan, you will immediately get a Japanese IP address. This means that all your traffic online is sent through a server in Japan and Netflix and other streaming services will look upon you as a Japanese. What is the result? You will immediately get access to "Grendizer U", "Dragonball Daima", "Okura", and lots of other fantastic content on Netflix in Japan.

Besides that, you can later use the VPN applications of both NordVPN and PureVPN to get local IP address in nearly 100 countries, and thus get access to Netflix material in many other countries, and also unblock TV networks and other streaming services. If you ever visit a country in which social media sites such as YouTube, Facebook, or Twitter are blocked, the VPN can help you get access to such services anyway.

Isn't that a fantastic way to start the day (or end the day). After you have purchased your VPN subscription, download and install the VPN application on your devices. It is very easy and both NordVPN and PureVPN have applications for all the big operating systems, platforms, and devices, which makes it very easy to use. It is also possible to run the VPN through browser extensions provided by NordVPN and PureVPN available for Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome.
