Today we have a rundown of the projects that can be worked on with Boinc and their eligibility to receive rewards through the Gridcoin whitelist.
The complete list of whitelisted projects can be found here:
http://gridcoin.us/Guides/whitelist.htm
Unfortunately there is not a written codified list of requirements that a project should meet to become whitelisted however consensus seems to suggest that projects should meet the following (in my opinion):
Must Meet
- Has a steady flow of available work
- Does not have significant periods without any work
- Low application error rates
- Allows new sign-ups
- Fairly distributes work to all users
- Has passed a vote to whitelist in the Gridcoin wallet
Should be considered (although not a blocker)
- Connections are encrypted, SSL/TLS
- Project admins are actively communicating
- Has communication in English
So onto the projects:
At Risk
First we start with the projects that are currently whitelisted but are falling below the required standards. Unless things improve then these projects risk being voted for removal from the whitelist.
Project Name | URL | Outstanding Issues |
DrugDiscovery@Home | Link | No work available for extended periods. Intermittent work for some platforms, No explanation from Project Admins. |
Enigma@Home | Link | Limited work availability for Linux. No work available for CPU, GPU applications are not stable for some users |
At this time all other whitelisted projects appear to be performing at an acceptable level.
Potential whitelist candidates
Now onto those projects which whilst not whitelisted are either to the same standard or very close to that of some of the whitelisted projects. Further engagement of these projects could see them being eligible to be voted into the whitelist.
Project Name | URL | SSL / TLS? | Active Admin | Work Flow Status | App Stable? | Comments |
Distributed DataMining | Link | No | Partial | Good | Yes | None |
ODLK & ODLK1 | Yes | Yes | Good | Yes | ODLK is in Russian, new branch project ODLK1 is now in English. | |
RakeSearch | Link | Yes | Yes | Good | Needs Testing | Some users have reported errors in some work units, This needs testing. |
Stop@Home | Link | No | Partial | Good | Yes | None |
Projects not meeting requirements
These are current Boinc projects that are not included in the Gridcoin whitelist and for which you will not receive rewards for completing their work units. There are many reasons why projects may not be whitelisted so I have listed the main issues each project has that are stopping whitelisting.

Current Whitelisted Projects
For completeness sake here is the list of current whitelisted projects where not already mentioned. As previously mentioned some users have suggested that all projects should use encrypted connections so I have included that status along with the status of admin in the list below.

Very good rundown of the white-list. It is nice to support one another project. I hope these candidate projects will get on the white-list soon. Especially CPdN.
To formatting, It might be a steemit fault, but I find the rightmost column of the tables (the one with comments) too narrow and hard to read.
I've changed the method used to generate the table causing the biggest problem. Hopefully it should be better and more readable now.
Worthy information.
Keep on BOINCing!
