RE: Gridcoin Community Hangout #005 (RSVP & Suggest topics)

in #gridcoin8 years ago

There have been various ideas put forward seeking to elevate the overall visibility of Gridcoin in the general market place.

Gridcoin is, I believe, seeking to challenge the perception of the general public that crypto currencies are often used for 'seedy' and downright unlawful transactions.

Gridcoin is advertised as the “crypto currency that compensates the coin miners (researchers) for participating in BOINC projects that may lead to advances in medicine, biology, mathematics, science, climatology, particle and astrophysics, thus providing real benefits to humanity”.

The key words in this statement are - “providing real benefits to humanity” and I'm sure you will agree we all aspire to this ethos.

I believe that we should endeavour to continue further with this ethos of “providing real benefits to humanity” and look very carefully at the aspect of Gridcoin as a charitable currency.

There are many charitable organisations that we should seek to partnership with, from the local charity within your neighbourhood, to the large multi-national non-governmental organisations (NGOs) we read about, hear and see on the media.

I would like to put forward a proposal that we contact these charitable organisations by the various all means at our disposal.

I have researched and singled out a particularly important, high profile charity, which I'm sure you will all agree is a worthy recipient of donations from the general public.

At present The Water Project accepts donations in Bit Coin so they are already aware that crypto currency is an alternative and appropriate medium for public/corporate donations.

They are a very organized and media savvy entity and I believe would be open to our approach with the view to a possible future charitable partnership.

I would like to see Gridcoin added as a new medium of donation for this project as a continuation of our ethos of “providing real benefits to humanity”.

I believe that we should discuss this proposal and others of a similar type in our next hangout.

I also believe that it would benefit us if we approached this with the 'blessing' of all our partners for example BOINC, Steemit, reddit etc.

This is an opportunity to put Gridcoin firmly in the public eye, so it is important that we do this in a sensitive, organised manner and therefore we require a rational well planned strategy.
