The greylist process poll has completed with the following results:

191 (99.49%)6 (.34%)6 (.16%)

What's The Greylist/What This Means

The greylist enables temporary removal and relisting of BOINC projects from the Gridcoin Whitelist based upon some simple rules. A project will be greylisted if:

  • Projects Work Availability Score (WAS) is Red
  • Number of Zero Credit Days (ZCD) > 7 in 20

If, following the rules, a project falls into the "greylist" it will be temporarily removed from the whitelist until it meets the criteria to be moved back into the whitelist:

  • Projects Work Availability Score (WAS) is Green
  • Number of Zero Credit Days (ZCD) ≤ 7 in 20

All this will be done without requiring a poll each time a project needs to be moved back and forth between white/grey. More info can be found below.

Going forward, whitelisted projects and projects looking to be whitelisted will need to follow the process explained here:

https://github.com/gridcoin-community/Gridcoin-Tasks/issues/194

You can view the calculated charts here:

https://github.com/gridcoin-community/Gridcoin-Tasks/issues/209

And again, great work by G_UK getting the proposal together.

I dont see why anyone would be against this so I'm happy that it was approved. I just wish more people would have participated. Hopefully this is resolved with the UI redesign!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but once a project is greylisted, anyone with (presumably gradually decreasing) RAC on that project is SOL and loses any GRC they would have been making on it.

Assuming I'm not missing something here (a big assumption..), that sounds like a pretty good reason to be against it as implemented... Seems a bit unfair to retroactively decide to not pay a cruncher for crunching already performed.

@neuralminer could confirm but I believe you lose your mag over time

Will there be an alert in the wallet ?

No, but that's a good idea for a future improvement.

Also note, that this makes the delist sourcefinder poll somewhat obsolet, it should go straight to the greylist, but there is no more reason to actually delist it

Sourcefinder would not be greylisted at this time if following the process.

Well yeah, because it just got some workunits again (it does every Wednesday). They will be gone in two days and then it would be greylisted

Depends. It requires 7 ZCD's in the last 20. It's currently at 2.

Oh, so it has to fulfill both requirements, not only

  • Projects Work Availability Score (WAS) is Red

In that case it was my misunderstanding, sorry

Nope, you're right. I was looking at SRBase. Yes, it would be greylisted because of WAS. My fault. Sorry about that.
